The best gravel routes around Ghent
Gravel in Flanders has always had its own identity: rough farmer paths, forest sectors, open fields and forgotten backroads stitched together into endless adventure. But these roads also carry stories. Around Ghent and the Flemish countryside, there’s an old tradition of smashing and scattering pottery along paths and trails — once used during local “tasjeskermis” rituals or to ward off witches and evil spirits from farms and homes.
You know what to expect.
A surprising yet demanding route mixing rough sectors with flowing champagne gravel, urban stints with hidden gems, and proper Flemish chaos in between.
